Welcome to the Holbrook Music Society Website. The aim of the Society is to provide music of all styles for the Pupils and Staff of the Royal Hospital School and the local community. Twice a year the Choral Society performs a major concert with the Christmas concert being particularly popular. The School is fortunate to have a Grand Organ built by Hill Norman and Beard in 1933, the consultant being Stanley Roper. A contemporary note gave the cost as £2000 - "equal to the cost of a naval torpedo". Unashamedly romantic English in style, the Grand Organ still stands, basically unaltered and a credit to the builders. Reg Lane, former local manager for the builders, still lovingly cares for the instrument. Peter Crompton the Director of Music has made many recordings of the organ which can be obtained from Priory Records. | |
